Lanista Training Institute

Principal's Speech

INTRODUCTION

My name is Esther Mumbi Kareri Ikiara, and I serve as the Principal and Manager of Lanista Training Institute.

I am a nurse by profession and have had the privilege of leading two healthcare facilities—Nyali Healthcare Limited, overseeing both the Nyali and Bamburi branches in Mombasa.

It is with great pride that I introduce to you Lanista Training Institute, a registered and TVET-compliant institution dedicated to equipping learners with practical, career-driven skills in healthcare and caregiving.

THE BACKGROUND

With over two decades of experience in the healthcare service industry, I have witnessed firsthand the evolving dynamics and the increasing complexity of healthcare needs. While our nation has made commendable strides toward enhancing the health and well-being of its citizens, significant gaps still exist—gaps that require strategic partnerships to complement the Government’s ongoing efforts.

At Lanista Training Institute, we are committed to bridging these gaps by offering comprehensive training programs designed to equip learners with practical, in-demand skills relevant to the healthcare sector and its broader ecosystem. Our curriculum is tailored to respond to emerging trends, particularly the growing demand for care across various levels within the community.

One such critical area is home-based care, which is rapidly becoming a timely and necessary alternative to traditional hospitalization—especially in cases where institutional care is not essential. This approach not only ensures comfort and convenience for patients but also alleviates the immense strain on healthcare facilities.

The need for such care spans multiple vulnerable populations, including the elderly—whether living at home or in care institutions—individuals requiring assisted living, post-hospitalization care recipients, persons with disabilities, and those in need of palliative or end-of-life care. Notably, this type of care is increasingly sought after both locally and internationally, including by holidaymakers requiring temporary support.

At Lanista, we aim to produce competent and compassionate caregivers who are well-prepared to meet these growing demands and contribute meaningfully to the global healthcare landscape.

OUR PLEDGE

Our primary focus is to equip our students with the essential skills and competencies required to serve both the local community and international markets with professionalism and compassion.

We are committed to continuously expanding our training programs in response to evolving healthcare needs, while ensuring full compliance with the standards and requirements set by regulatory bodies—both locally and internationally—as reflected in our regularly updated course schedule.

We warmly welcome you to be part of this transformative journey. Allow us to walk alongside you as you build a meaningful and rewarding career in healthcare.

Karibuni sana.

Warm regards,
Esther Mumbi Kareri Ikiara
